Updating your device doesn't affect your content, settings or other information.Firmware files can be very large in some cases, so it may take some time for your download to complete. In either case, backing-up your content in i Tunes or i Cloud is recommended.Though like with anything regular maintenance is required whether this be removing the dust or fluff from the fan at the back or keeping the firmware up-to-date. The Iomega IX2 or IX4 NAS has two parts to it than can have firmware revisions applying to it.The first is the most obvious and is for the actual IX4 unit itself.

IPSW stands rather simply for i OS Software, and IPSW files are basically just individual firmware downloads for specific i OS devices.

Once you’ve download the firmware file from the Iomega site you are then all set to update it to the Iomega IX device.

To do this simply check/tick the ‘Copy Update File’ box, click the ‘Browse’ button and select the firmware file you just downloaded and click the ‘Next’ button to start updating the firmware.

NOTE: If you don't see it, you can also click Start, In the Start Search line type in: Right click My Computer, select Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager button, scroll down to Smart card readers, select the next to it to open it up. It will prompt you for a name for the folder (type in CAC Driver).

If your smart card reader is already listed, you can go to the next step of installing the Do D certificates. Try this first: Go to Device Manager (Instructions are above), scroll down to Smart Card readers, right click the CAC reader that shows up below Smart Card Readers. Hit OK, then select Extract (lower right corner of this window).
